2009 RENEWAL – THE CAMPAIGN SO FAR
With the renewal season now in full swing a number of predicted trends are emerging:-
* Prominent Insurers are declining to offer renewal quotations to some firms as they reposition their book of business,
* New Insurers are mostly being cautious and selective,
* Premiums are mostly increasing in some cases dramatically,
* Quotations are taking longer to obtain as risks are scrutinised more closely,
* Premium instalment facilities are being restricted,
* Insurers that focus on risks in distress and heading for the Assigned Risks Pool are emerging.
The overall cost increase could not come at a more inconvenient time for the profession. Increased attention being paid by Insurers to the firm’s ability to pay both the premium and any excesses is also slowing processes and becoming more prominent as a factor in selecting the Insurer.
